Velan
Velan sure could use a man right now. A big strong man. Wading though a dank, smelly, bug infested forest was no way to be for a succubus, but then what's the point of being a succubus when no one was around ?
And at the right moment she stumbled upon a clearing and decided that she wasn't going to be a succubus, but a witch “veroki enet Dana” velan focused her eyes and her mind to a fine needle point. she stared at the witch, not just her looks but her movements, her aura and being. Usually she spent longer studying before attempting a new glamour but their forms where similar and she wanted to go into the misty mountain with a new life.
She saw the witch approaching a garden with a little basket, she watched the witch for a while digging, when she said in a tone not typical of the usual care free forest witches “I should've started at a lower price...stupid Jev” what in the mystic realm was a jev !?. She retreated back deeper in the forest when she saw the witch grab a blade. Tensed for attack velan did a sigh of relief when she saw the which was just doing more gardening.
Velan decided she wanted this jev, sounded like a creature with money. She didn't just want a new life. She wanted this witches life. She concentrated further. Her form shifting, her hair changing to in light shade of brown and curling widely. her waist slimming. And sadly her once nice clothes becoming a lot more garish. Contempt with her look she waited for the witch to leave in the opposite direction, she then took the path up the side of the mountain. Feeling optimistic that this Jev could be her provider, at least until a more suitable man came along.

Jev
Jev kept flashing back to the conversation he had with Layla earlier today. He was going to try and get something from Vet. Anything would be helpful. He knew Layla was frighten. Normally he wouldn't bother with other's situations, but Jev knew Layla's mother. She was a kind soul. He felt he owed her protection for Layla, her daughter.
The sun was beginning to set. It had been a long, warm day. Many of the mysticals were calling it quits. The sun set over head made the mountain a bright orange and red, casting a large shadow below among the forest. As Jev began towards the mountain, he spotted Layla advancing towards him. Their eyes met and Jev instantly felt an attraction that hadn't been there before. What is going on? Layla seems, different. He thought to himself.
"Hey Layla!" he said as she approached. "Feels like I haven't seen you in forever," he said sarcastically. As he spoke, he could feel the attraction growing stronger. He noticed her shiny curls waving swiftly in the wind. The way her eyes glimmered with the sunlight. He smile was like a poison, making his knees weak below. Something was off. But he just couldn't put his finger on it. "Whats.. Going on?" he whispered, enchanted by her presence.
Layla
Layla gathered all her herbs, roots and small critters while heading towards the river. The sun was beginning to set, meaning her business was just about to kick off. Most of the mysticals paid her camp ground a visit during the evening when they were done with their daily duties. Having spent thirty five gold pieces, she knew she needed to have a busy night to earn most of that back. Last thing on her list was fresh water from the river.
As she approached the water, she spotted Atkin, Penelope and Vi relaxing in the river. She smiled, deciding not to interrupt their conversation. Carefully, she collected water in a small vase. The water was cool as she dipped her hand in. Once the vase was filled, she slid the cap back on and placed it back into her basket. Before she turned, she smiled at the crowd hoping to give off a friendly vibe. She had a lot of work to do before the sun set, and didn't have extra time to stop and chat.
Once she made it back to her camp, she quickly began working, wasting no time. She chopped up the herbs and leave. Smashed the berries and stripped the roots further. A small cauldron sat on a fire place behind her work space. "Queimar," she casted the wood beneath on fire as the spell fell from her lips. Her spell translated to Burn. She filled the cauldron up with the river water and began putting her ingredients inside. "Fermentación, forte e estable . Encher a auga e producir coraxe para os meus clientes." (Brew, strong and steady. Fill the water and produce courage for my customers) she chanted. The water turned a soft purple, signaling that it was ready to be served.
One by one, clients from all over the mountain trickled in and perched themselves up at her bar made of stone. It was a large piece, being roughly 18 feet long. Small boulders sat on the opposite end of the bar acting as seats. Layla greeted each guest with a friendly smile.
"Hello! Welcome everyone! I have something special tonight!" she announced feeling pretty confident her new potion would be a hit.

Devin
"You did great today Keres, everyone was listening to your every word and although they may not all agree, the majority did. That's impressive. They hate change and you are bringing something completely new to them. I could see you were struggling and I'm awfully glad that Vet was there to help you." Devin may not always like Vet, maybe it was just rivelry but he knew that he was a great help to Keres in these times.
Devin pulled Keres into a tight hug, making sure she could feel the love he was sending to her. He wanted her to feel at peace, something she hadn't been feeling for the past few days.
Grabbing her hand Devin ran with Keres down the mountain to their cave, for a little relaxation before deciding on anything else.
Keres
The first thing that Keres did once she had got back to her cave was get changed out of her overly formal dress, into one that was more comfortable. She had needed to wear the other dress for the meeting otherwise none of the vampires would pay attention to her, they needed her to be smart.
She thanked Devin for being there, and knew that although he couldn't contribute in the meetings, he was in agreement with her. They had discussed it at length before the meeting took place and he was always on her side.
She gave him a quick hug before setting off alone toward Layla's bar, where she knew the other creatures would be gathering. She needed to speak to them and let them in on the plan, but she needed to see Vet first.
***
Once at the bar Keres walked up to Layla and grabbed a glass of the potion. Today's was a new concoction, something was different about it. It made her relax in a way that she hadn't done since she was with Garrick. God she missed him. Devin just wasn't the same. Garrick had known what to do in every situation and Devin just agreed with the things she said.
Maybe this new potion wasn't for her... it had made her remember the things that she tried to keep hidden. It was no good for the clan if their leader was brooding on the past...
Evangeline
Evangeline had decided it was time to get out and meet some new people. She had decided that the bar was a great place to go.
Walking through the trees she noticed quite a few other creatures going her way. Once at the bar she heard the Forest Witch say "Hello! Welcome everyone! I have something special tonight"
Evageline was excited and orderd a glass straight away. She hoped that the potion would be good and make her joyous. She could see a number of different creatures talking to each other and wanted to take part. She didn't get out much and her main communication was with Zeus who she had left at home today.
"Hi, I'm Evangeline. I heard a racket earlier up at the top of the mountain, have you any idea what was happening?" She asked the forest witch.

Velan
“whats...going on” what’s going on ? She gave it her all in her performance on her approach to this Jev, she let her hips swing, her hair shine, her eyes soften onto his and all he has is “what’s going on ?”
“nothing jev, but i’m sure you would like to find out. I want to see if we can make a new deal about this payment I recently made” ok this was harder than she thought, a forest witch to be this direct was uncommon. If she wasn’t careful he would see through the glamour.
But so far so good, they walked side by side towards a small shack. She was hoping it would be bigger up close but when compared this man it just made it look so much smaller and grimier. “So Jev, i like what you have done with the place, expecting anyone special” She ended the sentence with a flutter of her eyes. “no uhh..didn’t you say that already ? this morning ?” he averted her gaze, she needed to keep the eye contact for the glamour to work it’s magic. Velan never had to work so hard for attention but she had a risky idea to bring him back to her eyes. “well a man like you i would think their special one would change often” she stumbled towards him, fingers outstretched to lay on his chest. Given the beating of his heart, he took the bait. Now to real him in “I guess that special one would be me jev, right ?” “Of course you are, i’ll protect you no matter the cost, i’ll i’ll...move mountains for you. You could have a cot right next to mine” oh wow a cot, this guy was such a romantic. Wait, no matter the cost? “jev hunni, about that cost. I just think it’s a little unfair don’t you ? Would you be a dear and give me the money back. I could use it to make an extra wedding dress”
“wedding dress !?” She may have gone too far, too quickly. He began to approach her, slowly “of course, we can’t be in this shack as anything but equals in partnership” she said with quick breaths between each word as she was tip toing closer and closer towards the exit. “wait a minute, who are you ? you’r not Layla. You don’t even look like her” jev said taking wider steps towards her now picking up an on his approach. “How could you be so rude hunni, of course i’m Layla ! let’s not argue like this. What would the neighbours think” she said screaming as she left the shack. Jev quickly followed, but what exited the shack wasn’t the same man that entered. Now he stood, stronger, darker and a whole lot uglier. A gargoyle, she sure knew how to pick them.
“whoever you are i don’t want to see you round here again !” but jev might as well have been talking to air as she had already gone.

Jev & Vetagorn & Layla
Jev stood in his human form, starring at nothing. Where was the witch? What had just happened...? he thought to himself. Frustrated, he rubbed his temples trying to gather his thoughts. As he did so, a shadow appeared in front of him. Jev knew someone was standing right behind him. Slowly, he reached for a small blade hidden in his armor. He turned with great speed and plunged the dagger directly in the creature's gut! On the other end of the blade stood Vetagorn baring a sinister smile.
"I always approved of the way you greeted old friends," Vetagorn teased. Being stabbed in the gut was nothing to a vampire. Thankfully, Jev didn't go for the chest area. Vetagorn pulled the dagger out and flipped the blade away from Jev, handing him back his weapon. Cool, dark liquid trickled from the blade and fell on the floor. Jev laughed as he took back the blade and cleaned it off on the side of his shirt.
"Apologies, Vet! But you know, how many times have I warned you, not to sneak up on a gargoyle?" Jev teased. He placed the weapon back into its hiding space. Vetagorn huffed and the two began towards the bar. "Vet, have you seen Layla lately? I could've sworn she was just with me... Then you appeared." Jev was so confused on the events that just unfolded. It was like it had occurred in a dream. None of it made sense.
Vetagorn didn't look at Jev as he spoke, "No, not recently. I tend to stay away from the witch family these days." Jev nodded knowing that Vetagorn was still heart broken over the last witch he had loved.
"I just remember her walking towards me. There was an attraction that hadn't been there before. Everything she did and said was just seductive and perfect..." he trailed off in thought. Vet snickered. You're starting to sound like you're in love, my friend. Vet told his friend in his thoughts. Jev reared back wide-eyed, "Me? In-Love?! Hell no. This must have been some sort of spell."
The two finally arrived at the bar. Jev took a seat at the bar as Vetagorn waited behind. Layla walked up and smiled a crooked smile at Jev as she leaned over the bar to better hear him, "What'll it be, Jev?" Her smile was cute and her curls framed her face delicately. Jev leaned in to speak in Layla's ear.
"Did you come visit me half an hour ago? Asking for the money back?" Layla sat back confused.
"No sir, I've been here working. I have many people who can testify to that." She shrugged. "Wasn't me." Layla could see the confusion on Jev's face. What did he just go through? she thought. "First one is on me," she said while handing him a glass of potion. Jev nodded and sipped the drink. The taste was refreshing! Layla wiped her hands on her cloth and noticed Vetagorn standing behind Jev. His facial expression was stern and sharp. She knew he was studying the crowd. What is he doing here? she thought. She leaned back over the bar and hollered at Vet, "Need anything sweety?" She was trying to be polite.
Vetagorn turned and met Layla's eyes, "No thanks." His voice was cold and heartless. Layla was taken back by his bitterness. Damn, did I do anything wrong? she thought to herself again.
Sorry Layla, I see my commander at the other end of the bar. Have to act professional for the time being. He told Layla inside her head. Her eyes widened with shock! Did Vetagorn just speak to her thoughts? Carefully she smiled and retreated to the other end of the bar.
"What's her problem? Ya scared her off, you creep!" Jev teased, a little buzzed.
The moon shone above.
"Hi, I'm Evangeline. I heard a racket earlier up at the top of the mountain, have you any idea what was happening?" Evangeline asked the forest witch.
Layla met her friendliness with a smile, "Hi there sweetheart! As far as the racket on top of the mountain, no clue. I've been gathering for tonight almost all day. I did spot Penelope, Vi and Atkin down by the river but that's about it." She glanced at the Commander, Keres, and Vetagorn that stood near the bar area. "It does appear that we have vampire royalty here with us tonight. You might have better luck asking one of them." She paused and looked back at the elf, "Though I recommend Keres. She's way nicer then the stiff over there..." She rolled her eyes while mentioning Vet.

Penelope & Vi
Penelope considered Atkin’s offer. Her eyes met Vi’s and then traveled to Atkin. He was clearly going out of his comfort zone to ask for her help. Likewise, Penelope normally didn’t like to accept help from others but this was a special circumstance. He was a large werewolf, he certainly could help protect them and she was certain that herself and Vi could help him stay away. She was an expert at escaping from the commotion of the mountain society. “Sure, Atkin, that actually sounds like a smart idea for both of us,” Penelope spoke with a gentle smile. She was feeling brighter and a little more social than usual. Maybe it was the fact that potential death was around the corner or that she had spent too much time in the sun today, either way she had an idea. “I think Vi and myself might pay a visit to Layla’s tonight. You’re more than welcome to tag along.” Penelope informed Atkin as she exited the river and dried off. Vi shook her fur, water droplets bouncing everywhere. Penelope didn’t wait for a response, knowing Atkin would follow if he wished. It was only a short walk before the group had reached Layla’s, which was much busier than Penelope had expected. She pushed her second thoughts about socializing away as she sat down, Vi close beside her. Attempting a smile Penelope looked for Layla, who was bustling about and talking to a lovely elf. Waiting patiently, Penelope took in the other customers, trying hard not to make direct eye contact. There were a few elves, fairies and pixies galore, and oddly enough a gargoyle and some actual vampires. Penelope pondered briefly what they were doing here, fraternizing with the people they would soon sacrifice? She could feel Vi’s excitement about the surrounding group and wondered hopefully if her presence might scare them. Penelope turned to Layla, “Hey, got anything for a girl who laid in the sun too long and a tamed lynx?” she quipped gesturing to Vi. “I’ll pay for whatever Atkin’s vice is as well.”

Atkin & Layla
“Sure, Atkin, that actually sounds like a smart idea for both of us,” Penelope spoke with a gentle smile. Atkin took a sigh of relief. His nerves slowly calmed as the realization finally hit. He would have someone who he trusted there to help protect the mountain from him. Happiness swelled from within him as he looked at the two.
"Thanks, you don't know how much that means to me," he breathed.
“I think Vi and myself might pay a visit to Layla’s tonight. You’re more than welcome to tag along.” Atkin nodded and followed the pair out of the river and towards Layla's. When they arrived, the place was packed! Whatever she was serving tonight must be a hit! The three ventured towards the bar and took a seat. Atkin spotted Layla talking with Evangeline, a very nice elf. When she spotted the new comers, she walked over to take their orders.
"Hey there friends! What'll it be?" Layla asked.
Penelope turned to Layla, “Hey, got anything for a girl who laid in the sun too long and a tamed lynx?” she quipped gesturing to Vi. “I’ll pay for whatever Atkin’s vice is as well.” Atkin turned towards Penelope.
"That's kind of you, but this one is on me!" his smile wrapped itself around his face baring shiny canine teeth. "I'll let you get the next one." Layla shook her head in agreement and suggested the new potion. She twirled on the back of her heel, poured two cups and handed them to her new customers. Then she reached under the bar and pulled out a jello like substance filled with tiny geckos and mice.
"Its what I offer the Gryphons and they swear by it. Try it out Vi," she offered pushing the bowl in front of Penelope letting her decide if Vi could try. "I think you'll like it." Wiping her hands on her cloth, she motioned for Evangeline to come over. She glanced back at the werewolf and warg. "So, my friend here says she sensed something up in the mountain today. You guys heard anything yet?" She took notice of the vampire commander and 2nd down by the bar. "It's been a while since I've seen some of The Cold Ones here." Pausing, she looked back over to Vetagorn, "And I've never seen him at my bar before. I wonder what's going on."

Penelope & Vi"That's kind of you, but this one is on me!" Atkin smiled, "I'll let you get the next one." Penelope nodded in recognition as Layla handed her a wonderful smelling drink and a jello substance for Vi. It looked quiet unappealing but like something Vi would love. The bowl hardly hit the ground before Vi was devouring the contents. “I think she likes it,” Penelope chuckled. Layla motioned for the elf she was previously speaking with to come over. “So, my friend here says she sensed something up in the mountain today. You guys heard anything yet?" Layla said. "It's been a while since I've seen some of The Cold Ones here." Pausing, she looked back over to Vetagorn, "And I've never seen him at my bar before. I wonder what's going on." Penelope looked again at the strange crowd before she responded, “Actually, I think I have a good idea about what was going on up there. I was scouting through Vi’s eyes yesterday near the top of the mountain and saw, what I can only assume, was the vamps preparing for a meeting. Probably to talk about Dando de Sangue. Although I have no idea why they would be down here.” Penelope’s eyes met one of The Cold One’s. She didn’t think they were here purely for pleasure. Her pupils dilated with fear, what if they were takings someone tonight? She shook the thought from her mind, it’s weeks until the sacrifice and they would never take someone when there were this many other people around. Her hand instinctively reached out to Vi’s head. She stayed in her body but reached gently toward Vi’s mind. She didn’t seem on edge, if anything Vi was comfortable here. “I get the feeling they are here for something other than a drink,” Penelope picked up her cup and took a long swig after she spoke. She suddenly felt more at ease here and more social. Penelope was glad she was here, it meant she could see whatever they were trying to do.

Evangeline & Keres
"Hi there sweetheart! As far as the racket on top of the mountain, no clue. I've been gathering for tonight almost all day. I did spot Penelope, Vi and Atkin down by the river but that's about it." Layla glanced at the Commander, Keres, and Vetagorn that stood near the bar area. "It does appear that we have vampire royalty here with us tonight. You might have better luck asking one of them." She paused and looked back at Evangeline, "Though I recommend Keres. She's way nicer then the stiff over there..." She rolled her eyes while mentioning Vet.
"Thanks, I'll try over there then, I guess". Evangeline was hesitant, and although she wanted some answers for the racket, she didn't particularly want to walk over to the Vampires on her own.
The vampires looked particularly evil tonight, it may have been because they were talking very quietly among themselves, and not paying much attention to what was going on in the bar around them. As she got closer Evangeline became more and more wary of the opposing creatures. She wanted nothing more than to retreat to the safety of the other side of the bar. Just as she was about to turn back Keres motioned her to come closer. She didn't have a choice anymore, she had to talk to them.
Keres was hoping that the elf wouldn't come near, she was still feeling shaken from the drink she had. She didn't really need a confrontation right now, but knew she would give as good as she could if needed.
Evangeline was close to the vampires table when Keres asked, not unkindly "Hello Elf, what brings you to this side of the bar?"
"I heard a racket earlier today up the top of the mountain, I was just wondering if you knew anything about it" Evangeline was a little skittish to be talking directly to the Commander of the vampires. The vampires were feared among all the creatures and Evangeline didn't enjoy being the centre of their attention so close to Dando de Sangue.
"Ah, so it was you outside our cave?" Keres asked, to Vet she said "We will have to make sure to reinforce our areas. Clearly we have been found this time, this cannot happen again".
"I didn't hear anything, I couldn't even get close enough" Evangeline pointed out quickly.
"Good! We were having our annual meeting about what to do for this Dando De Sangue, what you heard was the cheering of all the clan". Keres said trying to scare off the elf.
Evangeline rushed off to the other side of the bar, away from the vampires and not sure if she was satisfied now that she had found the source of the noise. She had just made herself the focus of the vampires, that cannot be good.
Keres
After the confrontation with the elf, Keres started talking to Vet once more...
"So we need to tell the creatures the decision sooner rather than later. Do you want to do the honours? Or should I?" Keres asked Vetagorn.
The drink's effects were finally starting to wear off... Keres was happy about that, something about Vet's presence had helped her keep in the present and stop brooding on the past. Maybe it was because he's been in the same position, he lost Katherine, just as she had lost Garrick.
Devin
Devin was fed up of waiting at home for Keres to arrive. He knew that she had gone to the bar on business. And probably some pleasure. She loved to have a drink now and again. And he was worried about her, how she would react to Vet. Devin had always been jealous of Vet, worried that he would steal Keres off him. He was a stronger, and more suitable vampire for her to cast her love. And Vet was closer to her than any other vampire, himself included.
Devin knew he had to go to the bar, and find out for himself what Keres was doing. He knew she would be close to Vet and would probably be getting ready to tell the creatures what had been discussed in this months meeting...

Layla & Atkin
Penelope looked again at the strange crowd before she responded, “Actually, I think I have a good idea about what was going on up there. I was scouting through Vi’s eyes yesterday near the top of the mountain and saw, what I can only assume, was the vamps preparing for a meeting. Probably to talk about Dando de Sangue. Although I have no idea why they would be down here. I get the feeling they are here for something other than a drink,” Penelope picked up her cup and took a long swig after she spoke. She suddenly felt more at ease here and more social. Penelope was glad she was here, it meant she could see whatever they were trying to do.
Atkin leaned back on his hind legs and took in the info. Are they going to announce something here, tonight? He shot a glance at Penelope who seemed to be relaxed. If she wasn't worried, Atkin wouldn't be either. Layla smiled at the group and leaned against the counter.
"Whatever it is, they better not start anything. Tonight has to be a good night for me." She paused and checked everyone's cups, "Anything to eat?"
Vetagorn
"About your spell-casting friend, keep a close watch on her. If she did place a spell on you, you might want to know why," Vetagorn warned Jev before he walked towards Keres. Jev huffed into his cup before taking another drink. He didn't believe Layla would risk the alliance they had created earlier with mind tricks. Just didn't seem like her. It had to be someone else.
"So we need to tell the creatures the decision sooner rather than later. Do you want to do the honours? Or should I?" Keres asked Vetagorn. Vet shifted his weight and crossed his arms.
"With all do respect, Keres, it's really your call. If you wish me to announce it, I shall." Vetagorn knew Keres had a few to drink but it was a quick announcement. He knew the creatures would all have questions and predicted they would rush the two vampires. "I'll keep you guarded." No one would touch Keres while Vetagorn was here. He stood strong next to his commander. If you do want to announce it Keres, be careful. The creatures here have had a few to drink. If you're going to announce it, stand behind me afterwards and we'll answer questions together. He spoke to her mind calmly. Vetagorn was fully armed, ready for whatever might occur.
Jev
"About your spell-casting friend, keep a close watch on her. If she did place a spell on you, you might want to know why," Vetagorn warned to Jev before he walked towards Keres. Jev huffed into his cup before taking another drink. He didn't believe Layla would risk the alliance they had created earlier with mind tricks. Just didn't seem like her. It had to be someone else. He placed his cup down on the bar and leaned up while spotting Layla talking to a few mysticals. She would be distracted and forced to stay near her bar tonight. Quickly, he glanced over towards Vet and noticed Keres had been here drinking too. Slowly, he stood up and crept into the darkness. Once he was just outside of the bar camp grounds, he transformed into his gargoyle self. His wings were strong and stretched wide. With two aggressive flaps, he was in the air and off.
Whoever pretended to be Layla could help with the Dando De Sangue, he thought to himself while scanning the ground for movement. I just need to speak with the creature who has the power to glamour. Suddenly, movement shimmered through the trees down below in the forest. Jev swerved and dived down, landing on a large boulder among trees. The moon shown down on him mystically.
"I know there's someone out there! Show yourself, or prepare to be hunted..." he chuckled slightly when the word hunted seeped from his lips. Would the creature come out quietly? Or will Jev have a game of cat and mouse?

Devin
Devin walked into the bar and started to search for Keres. He saw her at the other end with Vet, as per usual. He started to walk towards her but she held out her hand as to stay "don't come any closer". Feeling hurt by her actions he slumped into a seat by the bar and called for a drink. Knowing that a drink would improve his mood. Or at least allow him to forget about his jealousy for a while.
He hated that seeing her with Vet caused those feelings, as he knew that Vet was likely still not over Katherine, but then he was also sure that Keres would never get over Garrick either.
Keres
"With all do respect, Keres, it's really your call. If you wish me to announce it, I shall." Vetagorn said to her.
Keres weighed up what he had to say and decided that he was right, it would be better coming from her. "Okay, I'll do it" she said. Just as she was about to start her speech she noticed that Devin had walked into the bar. He started to make his way toward them, she needed to stop him. As she held up her hand to signal him to come back later she saw the hurt in his eyes. She knew he had a problem with trusting Vet, but she had to have her second in command by her side, and having her consort by her side would do nothing to appease the mountain creatures.
"Can I have your attention please?!" Keres shouted, addressing the entire bar. All the creatures stopped what they were doing and turned towards Keres.
"So as some of you may know, or have guessed. We have had our monthly meeting about the Dando de Sangue today. And as all of you should be well aware, we usually do not disclose such matters with the general public. However, today we have come up with a unique idea which involves your choice and your vote.
We have decided to give you two weeks to deliver us a sacrifice for AlaBestiam, if by two weeks on Friday we have not recieved a sacrifice from you, we will have to proceed to the traditional way of taking someone. We want to avoid conflict and this is the only way we can save the mountain without taking someone by force.
If you have any questions, please ask now"
Evangeline
Evangeline started at the vampire woman in complete shock. She had never heard of the vampires allowing the creatures to have a choice. Not that she was happy about that either. She looked around the room at the other creatures and couldn't really gauge what any one of them was thinking. She cast her mind toward her home and contacted Zeus. Letting him know of the days events. He seemed as shocked as she was.
She couldn't believe that they had done this. Were they trying to cause rivalry among the creatures? Cause this was a sure fire way of doing so.
But she did know, that if a sacrifice was chosen, she would be safe from the vampires for this month at least...

Velan
Velan sighed as she walked through the outskirts of town, still fearful of her encounter with Jev. She came to the Mountain to make a new life but her poor use of glamour had destroyed all hope of that. She had to stop trying to be someone else, and to try and be her. She vowed not to use glamour ever again.
Once confident that the whole ordeal was likely yesterdays news she mingled with a crowd into town. She was amazed by the variety of creatures all living, shopping, working and sowing all as one. But she heard chattering of people behind closed doors and hidden always of something called, dando de sangue. She saw fear in the eyes of anyone who spoke of it and quickly realised this is what held the town together. Cold fear of power.
If she was to survive here, she had to do it without man or beast. Without any disguise or lies. She needed information to start with and what better place than somewhere where words flow like a waterfall, often accompanied with wine and meed. A bar.
It didn't take her long to find, given the smell. Her senses weren’t any stronger than the average creature but right now she wish they could just turn off. Loud booming voices dominated crowds, creatures bustled and barged their way through the entrance. She wasn't ready. She stayed in the cover of a great tree as dusk began to fall. When she no longer decided being with her own thoughts Waa fun she stepped out. But suddenly she heard
“I know there's someone out there! Show yourself, or prepare to be hunted..." It was jev, this wasn't the time. But she had no choice. She timidly stepped out in her own form arms held up high but her eyes transfixed on jevs. Show no fear she was once told.
Jev quickly realised who she was and lowered his guard only slightly, but why? Surely he wanted blood for being made such a fool. She decided not to waist this gesture of forgiveness and said, rather cautiously “Hi Jev, I'm Velan. Sorry we started off on the wrong foot. I don't know about you but I could surely use a drink”
Jev chuckled, and a bond was formed. Not out of lust. But of honesty. Velans new life had just begun

Jev
“Hi Jev, I'm Velan. Sorry we started off on the wrong foot. I don't know about you but I could surely use a drink” the lady said cautiously. Jev watched her emerge from the shadows. A smile perched itself on his face as he jumped down off the boulder, hitting the ground with a loud thud.
"Velan, is it? You were the one who used the glamour on me earlier, aren't you?" he questioned as he walked up towards her. He stood several feet taller then her and four times her weight. As he looked her up and down, he noticed what she really was. A succubus. "Interesting," he growled. He circled her, eyeing for any obvious weapons. "Velan, with your power of glamour, you're able to look like anyone, correct?" He grew in closer, "If so, I have a proposition for you..."
If Velan really did have the power to look like anyone, maybe Jev could use her to find out information for the real Layla. He never got a chance to ask Vetagorn before he strolled off. Maybe she could glamour as himself and ask. Heck with it! Go straight to the source. Maybe she could glamour as Vet and sit in on anymore vampire meetings. He sat back, waiting for her response.
Vetagorn
"So as some of you may know, or have guessed. We have had our monthly meeting about the Dando de Sangue today. And as all of you should be well aware, we usually do not disclose such matters with the general public. However, today we have come up with a unique idea which involves your choice and your vote. We have decided to give you two weeks to deliver us a sacrifice for AlaBestiam, if by two weeks on Friday we have not received a sacrifice from you, we will have to proceed to the traditional way of taking someone. We want to avoid conflict and this is the only way we can save the mountain without taking someone by force. If you have any questions, please ask now," announced Keres.
A moment of silence rang through the crowd as wide eyes starred at the two vampires. Then, all of a sudden, like a crazy wild fire, questions boomed through the bar. Vetagorn stuck his hand under his coat and wrapped it around his hidden blade, matching everyone up. A goblin shot from his stool and started stiring the crowd. Fairies, elves and gryphons all met the two vampires with eyes of panic and confusion.
"Why now are we choosing?" One shouted. "Who do we choose?" "How will we decide?" "You wanted us to turn against each other, don't you?!" someone accused.
Keres, I see Devin up at the bar. I'll calm them down but you two should head back to the top of the mountain till this dies down. The last thing we need is for them to act out in panic and injury someone. Especially you! Vet turned and looked her in the eyes firmly as he spoke to Kere's mind. "Don't get me wrong, I know you're tough as nails, but really we should not argue." Knowing he had to defuse the chaos some how, he glared back at the crowd of mysitcals and spoke with great authority.
"Mysticals! Settle," his voice was deep and strong, "We are giving two weeks. And two weeks only. We leave it up to you all to vote who will be chosen." He paused, looking every mystical in the eyes, "Choose wisely. This cannot be undone." And with that, he gently placed his hand on Kere's arm and motioned her to the bar where Devin was. The mysticals continued to talk loudly but none approached. They all knew that was a warning to stay back.
"Hello again, Devin," Vet said not meeting Devin's eyes while he spoke. Keres, I'm leaving you now. Please take care, he said quietly within her head. Vet slipped out of the bar camp grounds and into the night. Hidden in the shadows, he watched the bar scene from a far, making sure his Commander was safe.
Layla
Layla watched as the two vampires made their announcement. Great, they leaked the news here... Everyone is going to storm out angry now. She thought to herself as she slumped on the bar. Just as she did, she noticed Jev had gone missing. Carefully, she stood back up and eyed the crowd. He was no where to be seen. How dare he just dip out while the vampires were here! I paid him a crap ton of coins! Angry, she managed her way down the bar before noticing a new fellow.
"Sorry sweety, I didn't see you come in." She turned and poured a drink, handing it to the half vampire, "It's on me. You like this one, come back tomorrow for more! I think I might have to close up shop early tonight because of all the madness." She smiled a half-hearted smile when she noticed the Commander and Vetagorn making their way towards her and her customer. "Enjoy!"
Quickly, she turned and continued down the edge of the bar where she counted her money and placed it in her coin pouch. She shoved it deep within her pocket. Pushing back the curls from her face, she turned and met the mysticals with a smile, "Thank you all for coming out tonight! This place will be closed in about 30 minutes, so get your last minute orders in!" She had barely made enough to pay herself back from her previous purchase earlier in the day. But with everyone on edge, better end things now before cups started flying and fists being thrown. With a skip in her step, she went back to the Warg, Lynx and Werewolf.
"Thanks guys for coming out!" she smiled. "Hopefully you'll be able to make your way out comfortably. But if need be, feel free to stay behind and wait out the crowd." She winked and turned to begin cleaning. One by one the chaotic mysticals poured out of the bar campground.
Atkin
Atkin stood close to his two friends while the mysticals seemed to flock about. Scratching his head with his giant paw, he turned towards Penelope and shrugged. "I'm not sure if this makes things any easier or..." he didn't bother finishing the sentence. With the news of mysticals having to choose their own sacrifice, it made it so that The Cold Ones weren't the enemies anymore. Now your fellow neighbor could be plotting to vote you out and turn you in. Who could you trust anymore? Atkin slumped down on the floor sitting on his hind two legs. When he did this, he just about met Penelope under her chin in height.
"Someone throw them a bone! This is crazy," he started. "Everyone is going to be on edge now. People will start little groups and rumors will spread. Everyone will slowly grow to hate each other." Stopping, he realized what he had just said, "Penelope, do you think that was their plan the whole time? Do you think they're trying to make things easier, or perhaps, more interesting on their part by having us turn on one another?" Just the thought a lone was sickening. Surely, this couldn't be what the Great Vampire Clan had been discussing earlier on top of the mountain.

Evangeline
She saw the panic of all the creatures within the bar. This year the vampires had turned, and they were making them choose. Why would they do this? Evangeline was calmer than the rest of the creatures in the bar and could sense that the vampires had been telling the truth. Everyone else thought the vampires were playing a game, to entice fears and make this Dando de Sangue for fun. But Evangeline could see the worry etched into the Commander's face. She could see that, that vampire was actually scared.
She could see that all the vampires were getting ready to leave, but she needed to ask one important question, that no one else had thought of before they went.
"Keres! Can I have a minute please?' She asked before all the creatures could leave. Keres came closer to Evangeline and she looked worse than Evangeline had originally thought.
"To this room, can you please explain why on Earth none of your kind have ever been taken as the sacrifice for AlaBestiam?"
Keres
Keres was making her way towards Devin when she heard Evangeline call out to her. She quickly caught Devin's eye and signalled him to come over, she knew whatever the elf had to say, she wanted her partner by her side. Vet had already left the bar and more creatures were rushing around trying to get out ask quick as possible. Before Evangeline could ask her question, Devin had pushed his way through the crowd to her side.
"To this room, can you please explain why on Earth none of your kind have ever been taken as the sacrifice for AlaBestiam?" Evangeline had asked. It was a question that made all the creatures stop in their tracks. Of course they wanted to hear an explanation of why the vampires had never been sacrificed and was to begin a conversation Keres knew she wasn't ready for. Grabbing hold of Devin's hand she prepared herself to speak.
"Who's to say that we haven't had our own share of sacrifices for AlaBestiam?" She asked to the crowd, which made some of the ones running out the door, stop dead in their tracks. "As you all know I lost my previous partner Garrick, our old commander. But none of you know the story. Sorry Layla but this may take longer than the curfew you have imposed, and any who want to hear should...
75 years ago, when our clan was stronger than it is now, we took an elf child for the Dando de Sangue, unfortunately she got away and we had to choose a new sacrifice with one day to go. We couldn't find the elf child or anyone suitable to replace the elf child. AlaBestiam was prepared to come and destroy the mountain and we needed to save the mountain. Normally vampire's from this mountain cannot be sacrificed for blood, as we share ancestors as AlaBestiam, but Garrick, he was from out of town. He didn't share the same blood as we have running through our veins. And he knew that to save his clan and his home, he had to be the sacrifice...
It was the worse choice he could have ever made, but there was no alternative other than to let the mountain be ravaged and torn apart. He would have died either way. This he knew, for I had already foreseen this and warned him. He truly was a special being. And he sacrificed himself so all of you could live. Yet you come round here asking why none of us have been sacrificed. We have! We choose ourselves if we need to. But it's better for us, to take one of you. There would be no vampires left, if we were to be sacrificed every month to appease AlaBestiam, which most of us cannot do anyway!
I know you're probably wondered why we never revealed this? But it was information we wanted to keep within the clan. Our clan is our family, and his death caused havoc and a new Commander had to be selected...
So we have suffered. Just keep that in mind when you choose your sacrifice."
Evangeline
Evangeline was deeply shocked by the revelation that one of the vampires had been a sacrifice to AlaBestiam and she wished she hadn't asked the question. She was close enough to Keres to see tears running down the Commander's face. She had clearly loved this Garrick very much. That got her wondering, why didn't vampires have children? But she knew now wasn't the time to ask.
Another thought came unbound to Evangeline. Keres had mentioned that an elf child had been taken and that she had somehow managed to escape. She would have been 5 at the time of that specific Dando de Sangue... she was wondering if it could have somehow been her?
Devin
Devin was in complete shock that Keres would talk about Garrick's death in front of the sea of creatures, he didn't know if it was the right choice, but he was glad he was the one who was next to her. He put his arm around her and walked her out of the bar up to the mountain cave where they lived. He knew this had deeply upset her. And he realised in that moment, that although she would never get over Garrick, she had wanted him to be by her side during her speech. She hadn't waiting for Vet to return; she had signalled him over.
Once back in their cave Devin made Keres a nice warm drink, and settled her into the bed. He knew she would be out of it tonight, and he would keep watch over the cave, incase any of the mystical's decided to attack for her outburst.

Penelope & Vi
The place went silent when The Cold One’s leader made her announcement. They were going to let them pick who to sacrifice? Penelope scrunched her eyebrows in confusion as the bar broke out in angry cries. She couldn’t tell if this was good news or bad news. Atkin spoke beside her, "Penelope, do you think that was their plan the whole time? Do you think they're trying to make things easier, or perhaps, more interesting on their part by having us turn on one another?" Having a say in the matter was important, it would give them the chance to finally understand why a person was selected but it would also pit them against each other. Penelope’s naturally negative demeanor took over. They were passing the responsibility off. The vampires didn’t care who was chosen or if mysticals of the mountain had a say, they were just tired of doing to work and being hated for doing it. Penelope’s mouth dropped slightly and her muscle tightened with rage as she replied to Atkin. “No, I don’t think the -main- reason is to have us turn on each other, they couldn’t care less if we tore each other apart or not. They just don’t want the blame this year. They want to teach us how hard this decision is while they lay back and watch. Those self-righteous, lazy,” Penelope began to grumble under her breath. “Why don’t we vote to send a vamp to AlaBestiam this year,” her voice rang with angry sarcasm, like a bratty thirteen year old. She went to shout above the crowd when the elf, Evangeline, took the words right out of Penelope’s mouth, "To this room, can you please explain why on Earth none of your kind have ever been taken as the sacrifice for AlaBestiam?" Keres began a long explanation that silenced the bar. Penelope listened skeptically to her story, she felt no sympathy. They lost one, when the mountain has lost hundreds. How convenient they cannot be sacrificed, Penelope scoffed. Deep down she knew it must have been hard for them, but in this moment she did not care. Penelope decided to take Layla’s offer and stay until the bar had cleared. She turned to the group who was still there, “I don’t think we should choose anyone. Maybe I’m naïve but I think we should try to defeat AlaBestiam once and for all.” Vi let out a nasty snarl to match Penelope’s attitude.
